Holding onto Shame – v2

We believe the lies we tell ourselves
of our mortal flesh, of Satan…
We put our human judgment
above God’s forgiveness in Christ…
 
We make of ourselves a god
holding onto shame, our guilt,
our sin that was forgiven,
that Christ nailed to the cross…
 
We remain yoked to pain…
We carry such a heavy burden
losing our hope, our joy, our faith,
in the finished work of Jesus…
 
We walk forward fettered,
in chains of our own making…
We hold onto our shame
when our sin is already forgiven…
 
We must confess, we must turn,
from our sinful nature,
We must rise in the Spirit,
to follow God’s path…
 
We are released only in turning,
We healed in this moment,
only when we conform our steps
to the path of our risen Lord Jesus…
