My #sexualassault does not define me – v2

My young body’s reaction,

involuntary movement
blood rising within me
not within my control…
 
Being in that place
a littered field that morning
did not justify
sin committed against me…
 
My assault does not define me
no chains still hold me,
I am releasing the pain
I should have long ago…
 
God was with me
in the struggle, that moment,
in every day after,
even though I pushed Him away…
 
My journey, my sin,
every minute of my sojourn,
only the love of God,
the sacrifice of Jesus…
 
The cross defines me
the love poured out, finished,
I am redeemed, restored,
io matter what I go through…
 
I have a new life
I am defined by Jesus
His sacrifice paid my price,
and everything done against me…
