Our jobs do not define us – v2

All our lives, we have believed Satan’s lie,
seeking praise, rewards for our work,
We make hard work an idol,
a thing to replace God…
 
We create false idols, things,
gods that betray us, meaning,
in things of this world, the flesh,
that will die, that fade away…
 
Our jobs do not define us,
they do not gauge our worth…
The love of God, through Jesus,
more than treasure here on earth…
 
We cling to the familiar,
stuck in our ruts, our paths,
We seek glory from our neighbors,
fellow travelers on this earth…
 
God alone defines us
through the love He pours out…
We are beloved children
bought with an awful price…
 
Our jobs do not define us,
We are of infinite worth,
God became incarnate to save us,
to raise us from this earth…
 
God calls us to trust Him,
to follow Him alone, His calling,
His way is better for us,
than anything here below…
