Slowing
out furtive steps,
our
stumbling in the world,
putting
ourselves, our minds
back
in that place and time;
Walking
in the footsteps of Jesus.
Hearing,
as the first disciples,
when
Jesus said, “Come, follow me”;
Leaving
our nets, our lives
leaving
all we had ever known
there
at the shoreline.
Seeing
Him cure the sick
when
Christ drove out the demons
even
as He fed the five thousand
watching
the miracles in real-time;
Walking
in the footsteps of Jesus.
Seeking
to walk with them
as
Peter did, as Paul had done,
sharing
His life, His ministry for us
for
we are all Christ’s chosen people;
To
walk in the footsteps of Jesus.
Turning
from our present ways,
from
the call of this broken world,
faithful
to His call to us, to the first disciples;
That
we may walk in the footsteps of Jesus
when
he called, “Come, follow me.”
Amen.
