slowing our furtive steps
our stumbling in the
world
putting ourselves, our
minds
back in that place and
time
getting out into the open
air
hearing, as the first,
when Jesus said come,
follow,
leaving our nets, our
lives
there at the shoreline
following Him into the land
seeing Him cure the sickt
there when He drove out
the demons
watching the miracles
even as He fed the five
thousand
with Him on the hillside
seeking to walk with them
with the first disciples,
those who followed
to walk in the footsteps
of Jesus
His life, His ministry
for us
for we are Christ’s
chosen people
