so that we may walk in the footsteps of Jesus – v9

slowing our furtive steps

our stumbling in the world

putting ourselves, our minds

back in that place and time

after the River Jordan

hearing, as the first,

when Jesus said come, follow,

leaving our nets, our lives

there at the shoreline

by the Sea of Galilee

seeing Him cure the sick

when He drove out the demons

watching the miracles

even as He fed the five thousand

on the mountainside

seeking to walk with them

to walk in the footsteps of Jesus

His life, His ministry for us

for we are Christ’s chosen people

in our time and place
