alone on that mountain

Climbing that way

following Jesus

from the trial, his beating

to the place called Golgotha

the place of the skull

the hill, Calvary

alone on that mountain

standing vigil with Jesus

Standing vigil at the cross

as she had stood by Him

when the wise men came

led by the star to see the baby,

giving Him gifts

beyond her comprehension

now unfolding, fulfilled,

in His life and death

His mother by Him

in His time of agony

she would not leave Him

alone on Calvary, on Golgotha,

alone on that mountain

the place of the skull

with Him those six hours

until His time was done
