Because Christ is Alive – v1

Because Christ is alive, because He is risen,
Because He is raised from the dead,
We too have victory, we are alive,
We have life within Him,
We will walk the streets of gold,
Singing praises in heaven…

Life became life again,
history’s one defining moment,
when Christ rose again,
and left the empty tomb…

Love was raised from the dead,
sin and death no more,
Christ claimed the victory,
and left the empty tomb…

Life became life again,
so that we may have life in Him,
Christ defeated death itself,
and left the empty tomb…

Love rose again

Love climbed our rugged cross,
Love entered the borrowed tomb,
Love lay in silence on Saturday,
but Love rose again…

Christ’s Love set us free,
when He stepped out of the tomb,
the stain of sin and death
was forever washed clean...

Love appeared to the disciples,
Love ascended to heaven,
Love will come again,
in Life, in Victory...

The Silence of Saturday – v2

The week’s work not yet finished,
not yet the victory of Easter,
the joy of our Sunday,
when the Christ rose from the dead…

We are still in mourning,
the silence of Saturday,
after the sorrow of the Passion,
the darkness in the garden,
His death upon the cross…

Numbed, being present,
knowing our Savior,
suffered and died,
and that He spent this day,
in the tomb, the cold ground,
descended to the dead…

The #tomb of that #silence – v2

Numb to the terror they witnessed,
fearing for their own lives, their breath,
Life so quickly taken from their Master,
their Lord, the Messiah, God incarnate,
tortured, nailed to the awful cross…

In the tomb of silence, their hope buried,
with Christ in the borrowed grave,
fearing for their own lives, their breath,
Bodies turned to dust, to nothingness,
numb, not knowing what to do…

Stealing the Breath of God – v3

I conspired with all of them, complicit,
my silence, my sin, my rebellion,
taking life from my Creator,
the body of the living Jesus,
stealing the breath of God…

Nailed to my cross, the tree, the Christ,
held there until He couldn’t breathe,
stealing the Breath of God,
the One thing that makes us human,
rising from dust, the earth…

I conspired with all of them, complicit,
my silence, my sin, my rebellion,
taking life from my Creator,
the body of the living Jesus,
stealing the breath of God…
