the flames consuming
hungry, satanic,
seemingly angry,
lapping at the flesh,
eating our joy, our hope;
destroying our praise,
bringing on the Passion,
the brutalization,
heaped upon Him,
the judgment on Jesus.
the flames consuming,
eating the palms,
the shouts, the praises,
ashes only remaining
nothing of Sunday;
only the coming darkness
the anger of the flames
when we denied Jesus,
the anger of the mob
when we crucified God.
