on the shore of the Loch – 2 – v3

Ancient ruins of red brick and stone
rising above the surface of the Loch;
I stared out into the mist, history,
fog hung over the water.
I walk down to the shoreline;
drawn back in time, my own history.
 
Shrouded in that mist,
water thick with peat
on the shore of the Loch
alone with myself, my thoughts.
 
In this land of my ancestors
touching something ancient, abiding,
against the rocks, fragments of brick
a mist rising, washing in, by the wind
a glint of sun, shimmering water,
above the peated deep
 
Not really looking for Nessie
within the mist, the black waters;
gathering stones from the shoreline
memories to hold, to keep.

Sheila Nadile Porath - ty. I was very aware that this was a gift, a singular moment. I very gently lifted the dragonfly from the grass and it was on my right hand. I moved it to my left hand to take the shots and videos. I so wanted it to stay longer but I could tell how nervous it was, as its wings were moving. That was like the white admiral butterfly covered in raindrops a few days earlier. It had shown its nervousness with its tongue going in and out. In both cases, I really had to still myself in spite of my heart racing. Trying to be collaborator not predator to get the shots.

Not just a collection of atoms
a divine plan, a purpose;
None of this is random,
chance, coincidence,
intricacy of life.
 
There is a Creator,
a hand guiding Creation,
the universe, this life;
Laws of nature ordained
by our benevolent God.

I am but a sheep

I am but a sheep
and the Lord is surely my shepherd;
I join David in his fervent prayer,
breathing his covenant with God.
 
I am but a sheep
a fearful member of the flock;
I struggle to be faithful, willful,
to trust fully in the sovereignty of God.
 
I am but a sheep
but God provides for me fully,
all my needs and wants, my desires;
I am safe in God's loving arms.

I have crossed his fence - v4

I have crossed ancient walls
lines drawn, written for others,
fences between their fields, their orchards,
good fences that make good neighbors.
 
I have wandered in his fields,
in the woods that rise behind them;
I have climbed these hills, further,
into mountains up above them.
 
I have discovered the remnants,
abandoned walls in the forests,
lost to time, rusted barbed wire,
meant to keep others out.
 
I have traversed these lands
into a place of peace, of quiet,
roads too often untaken,
in that wild, out in the world.

Sheila Nadile Porath - ty. I was very aware that this was a gift, a singular moment. I very gently lifted the dragonfly from the grass and it was on my right hand. I moved it to my left hand to take the shots and videos. I so wanted it to stay longer but I could tell how nervous it was, as its wings were moving. That was like the white admiral butterfly covered in raindrops a few days earlier. It had shown its nervousness with its tongue going in and out. In both cases, I really had to still myself in spite of my heart racing. Trying to be collaborator not predator to get the shots.
