gifted by pulling over

passing this same spot every day
in the daylight, at nighttime
seeing the lush green vegetation
before the bridge, the causeway,
thinking of stopping, of looking more closely,
over and over again.
 
gifted by pulling over, by stopping today,
by walking to edge of the wildness
of seeing the life burgeoning
just off the highway, the woods,
the water, the mangrove forest,
opening before me.
