So we don't drift apart

 So we don’t drift apart

the world a sea, an ocean,

filled with currents, distractions,

things pulling us apart

floating away by inches

needing to draw closer

to hold you more tightly

to renew the bonds that join us

the wellspring of our love

falling asleep in your arms

holding your hand like the otter

so that we don’t drift apart

watching as you sleep

feeling your breath upon me

turning off the noise

the darkness, the distractions

denying want it’s claim

when abundance fills us

needing to draw closer

to hold you more tightly

to renew the bonds that join us

the wellspring of our love

“We could learn a lot from the animal kingdom.

Take the otter...they hold hands so they don't drift apart.

Maybe humanity needs to put down the rocks in their hands

that has caused division and us to drift apart and hold

each others’ hand in love...in protection...in caring…

in solidarity... united as one...

Just saying”
