Hacked out for the fire

Any of my branches
the suckers, the wayward
those not conforming
not abiding in the vine

The branches unproductive
draining the kingdom
no fruit for God’s glory
a waste of living water

God hacks them out
pulled from the vine
gathered for the fire
to be burned, returned

Ashes only, remaining
returning to dust
the dead branches returning
to the earth from which they come

fruit for the kingdom

He trims every branch

God is the vineyard keeper
he trims every branch
cutting out the damage
restoring life
pruning, restoring
that the branches would produce
for the kingdom life
restored by the pruning
into God’s light

God is the vineyard keeper
he holds me, I am the vine
He feeds me, he cares for me
he prunes the suckers,
the unproductive branches
He cuts out the dead
he feeds it to the fires

I am the true vine
God is the vineyard keeper
He removes any of my branches
those that do not produce
those without purpose
He cuts them out
gathers them up
the wayward, the dead

part of the body
the living body of Christ
Christ speaking
directly to us
how God is the vineyard keeper
with the pruning shears
He removes any of my branches
those that do not produce
those withered, misshapen
those of no use
These are gathered, broken
the dry branches burned
cast into the fire

The gathered branches
those cut off
dead, without live
no water of love
Thrown into a fire
burned, no more
branches cut from the vine
abiding in the world
destined for the fire
no life within their work

before the call of God
yet each of us called
gifted by God

the source of strength

the testimony of God

You now the soil
may we be ready
for your rich blessing
plant us Lord

may we join with you

the full measure of my joy

In Christ’s prayer before ascending
returning to the Father
praying for protection
that God would save us
keep us from harm
while we walked the earth
safe from all troubles
the temptations of the world

Christ praying further
that God would bless of richly
that we would be of one mind
all believers as one
that the full measure of Christ’s joy
faithful to the Father
that God would grant this to us
all believers in the flock
