Captured within its body - v3

Three mouths, all screaming,
as if a wooden gargoyle,
just above the earth,
frozen, with mouths open,
as were the creatures of Narnia,
Who dared to challenge the queen...
 
A soul crying out,
deep with its fibers,
held for an eternity,
Captured within its body
the trunk of the tree...
 
Plants, leaves, the underbrush,
cleared from around it,
exposing the tortured soul,
Captured within its body
the trunk of the tree...

You create a thin space - v2

You create a thin space,
brushing at the edge of heaven,
a murmur, a prayer, a whisper,
coming as close as breath,
to the infinite, to our imagination,
to our journey here on earth.
 
You conjure magic, emotion,
opening a pathway, a doorway,
a channel for them to enter,
to descend, to traverse,
to sojourn here with us.
 
You create a thin space,
for ancestors, for others,
to smile, to bloom, to blossom,
to cross over, to linger, to dwell,
so that they might grace us for a moment,
but that moment ends far too soon…

Even in dying – v2

Even in dying, transforming,
becoming leather, paper,
as if soaked in sweet tea,
becoming cured like tobacco,
dipped in tannic acid…
 
Rose blossoms solid,
held firmly together,
perfect in their dying,
whole, an offering,
saved for the earth…
