The third candle burning
the fire growing
the joy of the season
faces all aglow
Together in worship
singing praises
trusting in your promise
to heal our brokenness

Patiently Waiting
Like the farmer for the crops
rising in their season
we should be hope
patiently waiting
God’s victory complete

will come on the clouds

Busy in Our Waiting
We must not be sleeping
busy in our waiting
for the coming Messiah
in life, in victory
We should be busy in our waiting
as the farmer in the field
waiting for the growing crops
the harvest to reveal
We should be preparing our hearts
tending the Lord’s garden
sowing seeds of hope
in spreading his good news
Seeking love in the world
peace between all men
living humbly, as our Lord
loving our fellow man

The Babe on the Cross
We forget the story
of the man who walked the earth
the Lord after the coming
the years in silence
the years in service
coming back to the babe
in the man who went to Jerusalem
the man who climbed the cross
But it is Mary’s child
God who descended from heaven
who emptied his holiness
to show us the face of God
The babe on the cross
this is the image to remember
as we wait expectantly
The same tiny hands
held in Mary’s arms
the same feet who
wriggled for the animals
walked to Calvary

His return in victory
blind eyes will see
the lame will leap like gazelle
the deaf will hear your chorus
the angels in the heavens
joining the earth in joy
remembering your promise
to heal us from ourselves

Our Clay Vessels Full
The joy of this season
the coming of our King
the babe in the manger
the King on the clouds
Our vessels full
our hearts expectantly waiting
for the love that comes down
raining down each season
Washing over us
the wonder of his birth
his living and dying
to give us new birth
We are ever singing, joyful
when we focus on him
able to walk on the water
to follow the way of the cross

Carry Joy
In the wellsprings of our hearts
carry joy ever
the treasure of our faith
The promise of Jesus
in the babe who came down
in the man we ascended
after wearing the thorny crown
We can have faith
in the joy of his second coming
happening soon
in the fulfillment of God’s promise
We need to be ready
carrying our joy
sharing the good news
to the whole world

Until the Lord Comes Again
Like the maidens ready
hopeful in our waiting
patient in our spirits
until the Lord comes again
We know not the time
the time of His coming
we are to be tending
the garden in our time
Waiting in patience
humble in our faith
serving our neighbors
sharing the grace of Christ
Until the Lord comes again
we are to be fruitful
spreading the message of life
in turning to Jesus

Precious Crops
In this season
expectantly waiting
yet needing to be at peace
in the season of waiting
Precious crops planted
sowing seeds of love
caring for our neighbors
being witnesses of Love
Tending the garden
the plantings within human hearts
like the farmer waiting
for the harvest soon to begin
The fields are becoming ready
the King to come again
gathering the wheat too him

The Lord will be here soon
Trust the word of scripture
the hope for this people
the savior of the world
will return in victory
The Lord will be here soon
to cull the nations
to gather His people in
to bring us home to God
We must be hopeful,
joyful in our waiting
sharing the good news of Christ
to all we meet in this life
Ours is the duty
as slaves of the master
choosing to follow Christ
out into the world
We are to be the hands and feet
the living presence of God
the image of the loving savior
to our fellow man
Our vessels to be poured out
sharing the love of Jesus
the living Spirit guiding our feet
on the journey of our faith
Rest easy you people
the Lord will be here soon
redeeming us to himself
bringing us safety home

the hope for this people
the savior of the world
will return in victory
The Lord will be here soon
to cull the nations
to gather His people in
to bring us home to God
We must be hopeful,
joyful in our waiting
sharing the good news of Christ
to all we meet in this life
Ours is the duty
as slaves of the master
choosing to follow Christ
out into the world
We are to be the hands and feet
the living presence of God
the image of the loving savior
to our fellow man
Our vessels to be poured out
sharing the love of Jesus
the living Spirit guiding our feet
on the journey of our faith
Rest easy you people
the Lord will be here soon
redeeming us to himself
bringing us safety home

Fill Our Hearts - 2
Fill our hearts Lord
in this waiting season
the season before your coming
as a child to the earth
Fill our hearts Lord
fill them with joy
the awareness of your coming
washing over the earth
Sharing the love of Jesus
the grace of your coming
walking humbly with us
going the way of the cross
Our hearts overflowing
sharing the message of joy
the hope in your promise
through you we are restored
Reconciled with the Father
through the sacrifice of the Son
filled with the Spirit
guiding all the way home
Fill us Lord that we may be poured out
humbly, as your servants
offering hope to the world
especially in this season

Our tongues should be singing

Focus on this Joy
We need to let go of our troubles
our struggle on this earth
to focus on this joy
that God came to the earth
We are only clay vessels
broken jars made of the earth
yet because He came from heaven
we too have new birth
God descended from heaven
coming, vulnerable, as a child
walking the earth as we do
able to choose His path
Yet unlike any other
Christ choosing the cup
to empty himself of the earth
to fill himself with Love
Going to Jerusalem
though knowing his fate
willingly climbing the cross
his body pierced for us
Dying in shame
the unblemished lamb
washing us clean with his blood
dying as a man
Focus on this joy
the choice of almighty God
giving Himself freely
sharing his infinite Love

Uncontrollable
The Spirit moves us
to go out into the world
leading us to share Jesus
to the ends of the earth
If we are willing
our vessels will be filled
with the love of Jesus
to share abundantly
Uncontrollable, unstoppable
like a rushing stream
like the flames of the Spirit
descending on you and me
We are to go,
to answer our Master’s call
to heed the calling of Jesus
to follow the way of the Lord
Serving one another
offering God’s great sacrifice
we are merely the vessels
pouring out God’s love

Christ opens the floodgates
Our joy overflowing
like a mighty stream
Christ opens the floodgates
in the hearts of you and me
We are clay vessels
humble jars of this earth
yet we are made for glory
to spread His message on earth
Christ comes each Advent
even before Christmas Day
filling us in this season
to walk more joyful each day
We are the living waters
the means of His grace
sharing the hope in this season
of peace all over the earth
God alone has the power
we are but the hands and feet
sharing the love of Jesus

like a mighty stream
Christ opens the floodgates
in the hearts of you and me
We are clay vessels
humble jars of this earth
yet we are made for glory
to spread His message on earth
Christ comes each Advent
even before Christmas Day
filling us in this season
to walk more joyful each day
We are the living waters
the means of His grace
sharing the hope in this season
of peace all over the earth
God alone has the power
we are but the hands and feet
sharing the love of Jesus
to everyone we meet

Remove the Fetters
Take away the stumbling blocks
remove the earthly fetters
let the light shine over the earth
the glory of his coming
Like a brush fire
the same flames of Pentecost
the Spirit within us
guiding us in the way of the cross
Let go of the fetters
the blinders of this earth
sharing joyfully God’s message
to the ends of the earth

Our Vessels Full
The love of Jesus
the blessings of our God
the hope in this season
of the gift of Your Son
Our vessels full

Wanting to share
our voices rising in song
sharing the joy in our hearts

More than Full
Nowhere near half-empty
far more than half-full
our bodies, the stuff of the earth
filled with the living waters
Our lives overflowing
especially in the Advent time
sharing the love of Jesus
in all we say and do
We are the witnesses now
the saints on this earth
sharing the love of our savior
being his hands and feet
More than full, overflowing
love washing over the earth
spreading the hope in his promise
to bring peace to this troubled world

Overflowing - 2
Our bodies overflowing
in thinking about the Christ
in the grace poured down
raining from heaven about
Our clay jars full
filled to overflowing
sharing the blessing
of Christ come to the earth
The babe in the manger
the tiny little baby
growing to walk
the road to Calvary
Living and dying
humbly as a servant
the beautiful hands and feet
pierce by those nails
God filling Jesus
His clay jar brimming
love overflowing
washing over the earth
We in our time, overflowing,
love washing over us
calling us to witness
to bear our own cross
To share this wondrous message
God coming to earth
going to the cross
to save us from death

Clay Jars of Living Water
Uncontainable, joy in this season
our lives overflowing
clay jars of living water
Amazed by Your coming
the gift of the baby
the Babe in the manger
growing to be the man on the cross
We are to pour out
to share the living water
to the ends of the earth
Ours is the joy,
the hope, the peace
the Love of God
streaming over the earth

Shone in Our Hearts
The indwelling Spirit
that breath of Jesus
the tongues of fire
burning brightly within
God has brought us
back to us
shone his light
deep into our hearts
We are to carry
the joy of that fire
the light for the world
to pierce the darkness
We are to go
to carry the light
the hope of the world
in the life of the Christ

Common Jars
Slaves of our master
servants of Jesus
disciples of his teachings
sheep of his flock
We are not boasting
we are proclaiming Jesus
the Christ, the Messiah
God who came to the earth
We are but common jars
vessels to be used
turning our lives over
in service to our God
We are so blessed
carrying such treasure
needing to share what we have been given
to the ends of this earth

The Image of God
Coming from heaven
entering the world
the image of God
in the face of the Christ
God revealing
His nature, His goodness
Love come down
from heaven above
The image of God
in the face of Jesus
the carpenter, teacher,
our Savior and our King
Giving His all
in the act of submission
a vessel for God’s grace
when He went to the cross
Rising to glory
in victory raising
all of the world
to His kingdom above
Promising to be with us
in this age and after
promising to come
and redeem us to Him
The image of God
in the indwelling Spirit
leading us to share
the good news of the Christ

Seeing the Light of the Gospel
We are so blessed
when we open our eyes, our hearts
seeing the light of the gospel

of our Lord, Jesus Christ
He came down, walking as a human

at the will of our God

When we awaken to His teaching
Jesus shall reign
with peace and justice
living out the will
of almighty God
All will be safe
on God’s holy mountain
living together
in harmony and peace
When we awaken
to His holy teaching
when we sit
at our Master’s feet
All of the land, the people
as full of the knowledge of God
as the seas are full of water
on this good, good earth

As the seas are full of water
In that time
the sovereignty of Jesus
the new King risen
from the root of David
In that time
the people will know
the true nature of God
from beginning to end
In that time
we will know the Father
as the seas are full of water
so shall our understanding be
Peace will reign
through His kingdom
all war will vanish
in that sweet time of peace

A Light to Reveal Your Will
In Christ such treasure
in the clay of His body
in the humanness of God
in coming to the earth
A light to reveal Your will
the teaching of all scripture
a way for all to come to You
to heal our brokenness
Only in the lamb
the living eternal Savior
the Word alive
descending to the earth
Sharing the light of God
in the face of Jesus
offering a real-world example
of following Your will
All of the law and prophets
fulfilled in one person
in the babe in the manger
and the man on the cross
We are to be now
that light in this darkness
sharing the message of Jesus
to the ends of the earth
Faithful disciples
holding such treasure
in the clay vessels of our lives
love to be poured out

Poetry Where You Live,
Raymond A. Foss
He will know the Lord’s will
Only Jesus
the Word living
God immortal
coming as a child
Descending from heaven
pouring out His eternity
becoming a vessel
to be filled with love
Only Jesus
fulfilling all prophecy
that he will know the Lord’s will
and submit to God’s plan
Drinking the cup in the garden
going to Golgotha
atoning for our sin
on the altar of the cross
God redeeming us
in the blood of our Savior
poured out for many
that all may live again
In this we know the Master
the face of our Savior
showing us the face
the presence of our God

the Word living
God immortal
coming as a child
Descending from heaven
pouring out His eternity
becoming a vessel
to be filled with love
Only Jesus
fulfilling all prophecy
that he will know the Lord’s will
and submit to God’s plan
Drinking the cup in the garden
going to Golgotha
atoning for our sin
on the altar of the cross
God redeeming us
in the blood of our Savior
poured out for many
that all may live again
In this we know the Master
the face of our Savior
showing us the face
the presence of our God

as new branches sprout from a stump
The coming of the Messiah
the new King of the people
the one who would come
to seal the breach
as new branches sprout from a stump
so He would be
the shoot of Jesse
David’s royal line
Christ fulfilled
all glory, all prophecy
in the city of David
under the mighty star
coming to earth
descending from heaven
the throne he gave up
to climb the rugged cross
Planting seeds,
shoots of the same vine
planting them deep
in the soil of our hearts
our clay vessels filled
with the living water
with the risen Messiah
His Spirit guiding our feet
Living ever,
abiding together
in peace with our Maker
following the Son
Going together
yoked with our Savior
going as we are led
to spread the good news

Together in Peace
Through Christ only
the new King from David
the Messiah prophesied
who came to the earth
Only through Jesus
the wolf and the lamb
will lay down
together in peace
Only in the Christ-child
the man who climbed Calvary
only in our Savior
is the breached healed
Only Emmanuel
God with us
able to remove the stain
to free us from death

He Will
The prophecy of Isaiah
in revealing the King
fulfilled in Jesus
in the coming of the Messiah
the God incarnate
living among us
great words of His power
coming to life
He will be the one
to heal the nations
to bring about peace
to the whole troubled world
not perhaps temporal
but truly eternal
stitching the breach
between man and our God

We can trust in His promise
In God’s time only
but we can trust in His promise
to bring peace to the world
in the Son who came down
To rain down from heaven
the joy of the ages
the Messiah within us
in the Spirit within
We are to be faithful
the treasure we carry
the love of our Creator
revealed on the cross
His time will come
to return in victory
the peace that we seek
in the love of our God
