their chaos, their struggles;
spread oil on the waters
offer them faith, comfort
hope for tomorrow

bring them love
of God, of the Father;
share your trust
in God's promise,
in the return of Jesus

fear and uncertainty
at this time, in this moment
in the midst of the pandemic
no past, no future,
frozen in this present
quarantined, unsure
a time of indecision
unease in our spirits
in our homes, our nation.
