onto the beach

onto the beach
that moment of anticipation
crossing the plane of the dunes,
the sand, the swaying grasses
 
sensing the waves, the water,
before I even hear them
drawn to the sunrise
a place of peace

returning home - 3

watching her steps before sunrise
crossing the plane of the dunes
stepping out onto the sand
as she was returning home.
 
walking with her toward the water
in anticipation, looking to the sky,
the orange ball rising,
all was right in our world…

under the cover of darkness - v3

flying under the cover of darkness
like a military invasion, stealthy,
everything outside the streetlights,
swallowed up by the inky blackness,
a great thick curtain falling down.
 
our driving more like crawling, silently,
in rough earthen subterranean bunkers
following the faintest of trails,
bomb bursts of the lightening
illuminating the jet-black air.

flying under the cover of darkness

under the cover of darkness
