In our acts
we display our faith
who we truly are
in our devotion to God
Caring for our neighbors
those who need a helping hand
loving one another
as our creator planned
Not just words on a page
using the gifts we are given
acting in the name of Christ
loving each other
in doing our master’s work

To Serve My Neighbors
An act of worship
our devotion to our God
as we serve our neighbors
seeing the face of Christ
love, in our actions
not idle words of faith
grace in the doing
carrying on our savior’s work

Using My Gifts
Not for me alone
studying the word
Called to care, to serve
to love one another
To use my gifts
my strength, my hands
my voice for others
The words I am given
to share, in your service
Oh god, my creator,
savior, and sustainer

The claims of the party
rehashing the past
repeating his old claims
not letting go, to the last
Holding onto his anger

for his own sake

Snow Coming Down
The snow, coming down
falling like flour,
like confectionary sugar
from a giant sifter in the sky
falling so delicately
still seeing the flakes
rising on the grass, the street
covering all in white

Starting to Snow
Just a few flakes
drifting down,
against a patina of white
the world waiting for the storm
all quiet, in grays and white
Colors all muted,
the wind still,
but coming,
changing for sure
all of the world pensive
waiting for what will come

In Winter’s Grip
The world, all that I see
in winter’s grip, held tight
the howling winds,
the blowing snow
all I see is white
Our lives, our activities
all within the walls of home
busy work and idle time
pacing round the house
Trapped inside
at winter’s command
our time charted by the storm
curl up with a good book, a cup of tea
Just stay inside, all warm

Dear Raymond,
I really am not stalking you. I just find it so interesting to have contact with an actual poet!! I was wondering if you had a poem for my blog today or could write one if you look at my blog. http://carolchil.blogspot.com
Stayed inside all day today
Wind howling outside
Leaky windows
Snow blowing under the door
puppy really wants inside
Painted, cleaned, moved furniture, sorted, cooked, ate too much, watched movies wrapped up in blankets, had hot chocolate, read a book, did a little scrapbooking, have a very bored teenage daughter, garage drifted shut, roads drifted shut, school called off, interstates around my area are closed.....school is closed again tomorrow.
Do you have the perfect poem for me???
Thanks, Carol

Snowbound
Within our houses
the world around shut down
nature bringing forth its wrath
we are hunkered down
the snow piling higher still
all the roads closed, still
the drifts up against the house
dunes of snow intense
Locked within our homes
no way to go out
the howling winds of winter
how they scream and shout
Barring out egress
our homes our world alone
what to do within the house
within the raging storm

The World Encased in White
Our world, covered
all encased in white
the drifting snow blowing
no other sound at all
The sound of the voices
the cars and trucks
as if wicked by the cold wind
all through this winter night

The Guiding Star
The guiding stars
of our lives
revealed in
choices we make
every single day
Trying, though human
to follow the Christ-child
to walk the way
of the Lord
each of my days
His light shining
cutting through
the darkness
offering love, hope
a way back to God
Serving our neighbors
sharing his message
Love come down
as our brother, our savior
to show us the way

Following the Light
To be like the Magi,
the wise men of Matthew
following the light
to find its source
the Christ, the babe
born king of the Jews
Seeking him in the manger
in his lowly bed
the way of his ministry
the path of the cross
The joy of his resurrection
saving the world
The love, the grace of God
into the world, walking as a man
to set us free from our sin
Going, like the disciples
my nets at the shore
spreading his message
to the ends of the earth

a light guiding me
burning within
The Christ, my savior
God, Emmanuel
guiding my walk
his spirit within
Leading me out
into the world
teaching me to believe
the calling within
Going in faith
out onto the waters
whatever the winds
giving me peace within
the sin of this world
a light guiding me
burning within
The Christ, my savior
God, Emmanuel
guiding my walk
his spirit within
Leading me out
into the world
teaching me to believe
the calling within
Going in faith
out onto the waters
whatever the winds
giving me peace within

A Clear Point of Light
Christ, the star of Bethlehem
the light come into the world
just as his star guided the Magi
so he guides us now
Beside us, even when
we are not ready
there when
we call out to him
Our star, our compass
the focus and passion
light guiding us through
the darkness, the long night
Leading us to places
we do not know

Falling to Our Knees
Falling to our knees
venerating our king
like the Magi
bringing our offering
Presenting our gifts
laid before our king
our hearts, our lives
offered to the lord
Our days, our path
left upon his altar
Guided by his love
by his spirit dwelling within
Our hearts changed forever
in epiphany of his grace
Love, Emmanuel
Christ walking close to me

Overwhelmed by Joy
A prayer, a wish,
at the start of the year
that we would be overwhelmed
with joy, love,
the assurance of God
Like the Magi,
falling to our knees
Feeling, sensing,
the presence of the Lord
awareness of our place,
our part in his holy plan
Spreading the good news,
the grace of God for all
to the ends of the earth,
as we are all called to share

An Offering to You
Offering to you
the gifts of our lives
like the wise men
coming to your side
kneeling before you, Lord
our offering, our lives
given to your will
Help us to serve you
to care for our fellow man
to go where we are led
doing all we can
To spread the love of God
the good news to the earth
all of us worthy
through his gift, second birth

Into the Unknown
Each of us
into the unknown
when we lay down our will
and follow the master
wherever he may call
Going out into the world
stepping out in faith
yoked with our master
doing the savior’s work
Entering into relationship
finding our gifts revealed
the plan of the creator of the earth
guiding our steps, our way
all of our days for your glory
this is our prayer

Poetry Where You Live.
Who We Are to Him
The journey of these bits of clay
the vessels of our days
seeking our place in the world
how we can serve and obey
Who we are to God
to our savior, our king
the journey of our lives
this, our offering
Longing to see the Christ
to enter in with him
to feel the touch of his hand
to sense his loving care
Understanding the price he paid
taking on my sin
trying to fathom the depth of his love
his grace reconciling me to him

who Christ is to us
A new year, opportunity

Encounter Our Redeemer
In the unexpected lands
the places we do not know
on the path, if we follow
Encountering our redeemer
on the way of the cross
the journey laid out for us
Plans for our future
our lives of abundance
yoked with our brother
leading us to heaven
home with our savior
his love in our hearts

In the testimony

At epiphany, the Christ
come down to earth
meeting our brother

come down to earth
meeting our brother
our savior, like them
on our knees
Offering for Christ
the gifts we have to share
the gift of our lives
all that we are his
New Journeys, out into the unknown
going under the star
guided by his light

Take Risks
The price, the gifts
epiphany, to take risks
to believe enough
like Mary, Joseph
like the wise men
the apostles, the saints
stepping out in faith
Finding our savior
our God, our brother
in the walk of our life
Each of us under your star
your pillar of light
guiding us through this world
this darkness, this night

To Share His Word
In epiphany, in journeying
coming to see my calling
how to use my gifts for God
To share his word
in the verses that I write
Stepping out, in faith
trusting the callings of my heart
cleaving to my master
doing the savior’s work
Sharing the message
love come down to earth
through our discipleship
given eternal birth
Guided by the spirit
led into the unknown
strengthened by the hand of Christ
marked by the nails, my sin
Going as I am called
writing the words I am given
putting pen to page
to share his loving word
coming to see my calling
how to use my gifts for God
To share his word
in the verses that I write
Stepping out, in faith
trusting the callings of my heart
cleaving to my master
doing the savior’s work
Sharing the message
love come down to earth
through our discipleship
given eternal birth
Guided by the spirit
led into the unknown
strengthened by the hand of Christ
marked by the nails, my sin
Going as I am called
writing the words I am given
putting pen to page
to share his loving word

Needing to stay open
to the leadings,
the guidance of God
Our gifts to be used
in unusual ways
Not by the plans we make
by his will, for his purposes
when we turn over
our gifts to God

the calling from God
to keep writing
to trust in him alone

Rock us to our core
Rock us to our core
that we may truly live
epiphany of your love
pouring down on us
The Christ, the king
God come down as man
walking the way of the world
leading us home again
Showing the love of God
in the way he lived his life
calling us to leave the world
to go and follow him
Shout from the hilltops
speak from deep within
rock us from our cores
arise and follow him

We Have Seen Your Star
Like the wise men,
we have seen your star
the truth, your light
shining down upon us
into the darkness below
A beacon, a lantern
burning in the night
calling us to your bedside
to your cross, the grave,
the stars, your altar
humbly at your feet
Call us Lord
from our day to day
lead us to a path for you
chart the course of our lives
lowly servants for your glory
showing the love of the father
to all of mankind
