Do you feel God’s love
His healing rain
the rain falling
life in him
His living waters
grace falling
washing our fears
washing us
all of our lives
healing rain
giving hope
casting out doubt
joy in our peace
given by Christ
by God’s
rain falling
washing over us

Send Your Rain
To this parched earth
to this broken land
divided and warring
no peace at hand
Send your rain
oh loving God
to heal our brokenness
one family again

Abba Father
The love dripping
from the call
we call him Abba,
Daddy, loving father
our love wrapping us
in the arms of your love
calling to us
reaching for us
seeking us ever
before we come,
your love wooing us
wanting us to call you
Abba, Father
always there
loving us
loving us ever

Love the Lord
If we were true to our faith
if we loved the Lord
we would be able
to love our neighbors as well
Love the Lord
our God, our living, risen Lord
Love him with all we are
our neighbors as ourselves

Set Free - 2
The captives
their chains
those in chains
some of their making
some repression
of others
here on earth
Set free,
set free
may they all
be released
all the chains gone
all the captives free
in the light of Christ
in the arms of our Loving God

A Place Where We Belong
Needing that community
that sense of family
we all need that comfort
a place where we belong
We are ever seeking
but God is right by our side
He is the place of safety
the rock where we are secure
In God, in the community
in the faith we share here
all of us welcome
all of us family

When We Enter the Gates of Heaven
Without fear or reservation
glorious, on that day
when we enter the gates of heaven
to find our eternal home
The place the Christ has prepared
especially for you and me
the place we will share

Things to Praise
So much else
the chattel of the world
the chaff of the age
that which will not endure

seeking the things to praise

Only From God - 2
All that I am
all the good I do
all that I offer
my gifts, my words
my passion for justice
my seeking, my striving
only from God
all I am a gift
molded, known
loved by God
for this I offer my praise
my hope, my prayers
in you my God,

Do Not Fear
A whisper in my spirit
not audible, but so real
the comfort of my Savior
whispering to me
a silent word, hope
a balm to my anguish
healing me, a work in process
starting my journey
Saved, in my tears
the words of God
Do Not Fear
I am with you
I love you
You are my son
come back to me
I am glad you have come back home
all is forgiven.
By grace alone.

Hear My Cry!
How well I know
the moaning, the pain
opening my heart
hours in the pew
kneeling
bowed low
Crying out to You
Hear My Cry! Lord!
I need you
save me, I have failed
I am in the pit
swallowed by my sin
How I cried that day
opening my heart
to you and you alone
needing you then, as now
to redeem me from death
the judgment I have earned
your grace, alone
that I need, You

my moans, in pain
the ache of my sin
heavy on my heart
sobbing in your temple
tears falling
sprayed out of me
You heard me
the stirrings of my heart
knowing my folly
the turning from you
that I am that Prodigal
knowing you and yet turned
to the flesh, to the world
to the baser desires
knowing my sin
in the pit of realization
bawling to you
you heard me
and lifted me up
changing me forever
in you alone

From deep within the pit
In my despair
aware of my poverty
my sin washing over me
falling, falling
from deep within the pit
I cry to you oh Lord
How I remember that day
surrendering all
crying, crying
sitting in the pew
feeling the weigh
pulling me down
yet, release
falling away
scales falling away
the weigh falling
released from the shackles
the chains unlocked
falling away
hearing my cries
from deep within the pit
Your hand lifting me
that I may see
the taste of freedom
in you, oh God
only in You

What Can We Offer
What can we truly offer
other than the Christ
how he changed our lives forever
bringing us back to life
Christ alone the reason
the love which we share
only from our loving Savior
why we offer our prayer

What Better Witness
What better witness can we offer
than the love of Christ revealed
as if on the day that we believed

Sharing the love of Jesus

offering them our witness

Created to Do Good Things
We are redeemed from death
made alive in Christ
brought back from the pit
created to do good things
Ours is a legacy
a ministry of love
being God’s witness in the world
to the saving of our souls
We are to be active
not complacent in our place
sharing the love of Jesus
to the ends of the earth

Just Like Everyone Else
Nothing special about us
plain as can be
made from the stuff of earth
struggling in life
Just like everyone else
until we met the Christ
falling before Him humble
choosing life instead
All of our lives before this
walking toward destruction
foolish in our own selves
that we had a clue
Only in the arms
of our loving Savior
only because of His grace
may we see our Maker

until we changed our path
baptized in Christ

Headed for Destruction
Before the grace of Christ
his willing sacrifice
the love of God washing
washing over us
All of us destined
headed for destruction
the pit, Sheol waiting
from before we were born
Only through Christ
his gift on the cross
offering up his life
that we would not be lost

The Lover of Our Soul
Deeper than our partner
our lover in this life
stronger than the bonds of blood
coursing through our veins
The lover of our souls
the God, most high
wanting only relationship
that we would draw nigh
Wanting to be with us
to ever walk by our side
that we would turn from our wickedness
and leave the world behind

The Wisdom that God Gives Us
We must remember
the failing of Solomon
ignoring the call of God
in the way to stay close to Him
The wisdom that God gives us
that we would stay faithful
turning from the siren’s call
and cleave to our God instead
The world around us
seeking our destruction
that we would fall into
the pit of our sinful selves
God alone leading
us away from destruction
guiding us to heaven
if we will heed his call

Lead to Destruction
The temptations around us
the false idols, baubles
all trying to lead us
to the pit, to our doom
God calling to us
in the depth of his wisdom
his love providing
a way to eternal life
The world we know
all that we value here
leading us to destruction
if we heed the sirens’ call
all of this leading
us away from Jesus
from the love of our Savior
to the greed and lust of earth

His Light Poured into Us
The love of God revealed
given in the Christ
coming down from heaven
becoming the sacrifice
His light shining
in his walk on this earth
by living and dying
giving us new birth
His light poured into us
the Spirit indwelling
witnesses to his goodness
in all of our telling
Bearing His light
to the ends of the earth
offering hope

Carrying His Light - 2
Carrying His Light
the light of Christ
hope to all of us
redeeming us from death
All of us committed
to the wages of sin
only by His grace forgiven
that we may live again
Carrying His Light
to the ends of the earth
witnesses to His healing
in the lives of men
All of us examples
of sinners redeemed
restored by the love of our Savior
poured out for us

Poetry Where You Live.
His Life poured into us
God’s power in Christ
to heal the whole world
given to us freely
light to save the world
His life poured into us
the Spirit living within
sharing the hope with our neighbors
to the ends of the earth
God’s light shining
when we carry it high
up on the lampstands of our lives
beacons in the sky

Flowing Down from Heaven
That we could be channels
that we would be light
bearing the word from your temple
flowing down from heaven
to lift the people up
Offering our witness
God’s presence in our lives
His guidance and protection
in the storms of this life
The hope of all nations
in the person of the Christ
to lead us to heaven
a way through the wilderness
through the way of the cross

Yoked to Our Brother
Drenched by the Spirit
imbued with His grace
lovingly nurtured
by the love of God
Yoked to our brother,
our sister on this path
walking with them
to share the good news
Defined by the journey
the walk of our faith
joined with one another
that we may be the Christ
Sharing with the strangers
all whom we meet
the miracle of our saving
by the giving of His life
The blood of the lamb
His sacrifice on the cross
descended from heaven
that we may rise with Him

To the Rugged Cross
Walking with Christ

heeding the call of our Master
following His will instead
Walking with Christ

carrying His message
to the least, the lost

Embarking on the Journey
In humbleness, epiphany
in turning to our king
away from the world
the path of my life
Embarking on the journey
a way to my home
returning to my Maker
through the curtain of His body
through the gate of the Christ

The journey to Calvary
All of our lives searching
trying to understand the Christ
the gift of God’s mercy
that he went to the cross
All of our lives seeking
longing for the way
only in the journey to Calvary

in some ways a metaphor
for some reality
climbing the holy mountain

Wandering in this life
so much like the Prodigal
returning to God in crisis
still He loves us so

to the Temple, to Zion
walking with our Savior
leading the way home

God’s Mercy Unending
In the stumble of my days
more than a purposeful walk
staggering in my witness
failing to bear the cross
God’s mercy unending
His grace boundless
saving me from my wickedness
when I fail to proclaim Christ
Giving me new fire
oil for my lamp
bearing me up like eagles
on wings of the dove
Guiding me when I stumble
assuring me of grace
sharing with me moments
when I can offer someone my praise

Joy in My Failing
Wanting to be worthy
of God’s saving grace
yet joy in my failing
my stumbles in this life
For God’s love unending
no matter what we do
so long as we are faithful
in all we say and do
God saves me, a sinner,
when I fall short
God’s grace alone
saving me from death

The journey of our faith
Not a destination
save for heaven above
the journey of our faith
a testament to love
God’s grace descending
falling like a dove
the fire burning within us
enabling us to love

sometimes to walk on water
to share God’s love with our neighbor
our sister and our brother

to walk closer to Christ

Our lives together
journeying ever
we journey together
in this walk of life
No one to be left out
as part of God’s plan
offering hope, grace
to all that we can
We are to spread

Hope in the offering

journeying ever
we journey together
in this walk of life
No one to be left out
as part of God’s plan
offering hope, grace
to all that we can
We are to spread
God’s message of love
healing our brokenness
grace from above
Hope in the offering
our lives in his service
that all may join us
in heaven one day

Lifting Up Our Neighbors
Each of us like the four
needing to be ready
lifting up our neighbors
bringing them to the Lord
All of us broken
lame, sick, blind
needing the love of our Savior
to begin to make us whole
Each of us to lift up
to carry our neighbors
to bring them to our Savior
that they may be restored

Sitting, Like Mary
When I am open
conscious to your presence
feeling you with me Lord
on this walk of life
When I am sitting,
like Mary, at your feet
listening for your message
your call to me deep
I am most at peace
when I stop and listen
for the calling of my Savior
calling sweetly to me
Guiding me out
up onto my feet
leading me to glory
when my work is complete

Peace within Our Spirits
Peace within our spirits
whatever may come our way
walking with our Savior
every single day
Knowing He is beside me
in this walk of life
with me in the trials
in my times of strife
Guiding me ever
with his loving hand
leading me homeward

More Snow
Another call in the night
the incredulous educator
another day of confusion
more snow falling now
Delaying their education
adding more white to our day
wondering what is in the offing
for the rest of this long winter
January 27, 2011
another 2 hour delay
because of another snow storm

The Whisper of Life – v2
So briefly we shine
in the whisper of life
here for a moment
in our time on the earth
So much we can do
we are called to no less
to share the joy of Christ
with everyone we meet
Called from our slumber
to be a light to the nations
to offer hope to the captives
sharing our joy,
to the ends of the earth
