When you pray – v2

When you pray,
pray such as this,
in humility, in praise,
pray without ceasing,
with your whole heart,
singing to Your Father,
for the Glory of God…
 
Pray for today,
in humble worship,
remember God’s faithfulness,
food for each day, a hope,
protection from our enemies,
knowing God is with us,
with our every step…
 
When you pray,
pray with your being,
all that you are, authentic,
coming humbly before God,
remember we are broken
and God alone is perfect,
pray always for the glory of God…

how would the story be different,
would he have killed him,

would he have taken

the king confronted, reviled
openly in the courts,
a struggle for power,
maybe even a death…
 
If Uriah had lived, if he had survived,
how would the story be different,
would he have taken up arms,
against the king, King David,
would he have taken

do not deny the cross

for God is our portion,
the one hope we carry…
 
do not quench the Spirit,

The Sanctity of Life - v2

I will never trust the vessel,
an embodiment of evil,
the most unchristian man
that I have ever seen;
but I must ask, how can I
love God, and be a Christian,
when the sanctity of life, each life,
is held in the balance, this choice…
 
Every life is worthy, important,
a gift of the divine, the Creator,
at the moment of conception,
a soul pulled from the Guf,
called, commissioned,
created, molded, within
their mother’s womb,
waiting to be born…
 
With each ending, termination
before their beginning comes
a life unborn, cut down,
an unfulfilled calling,
an unmet purpose,
part of God’s plan, lost, cut down,
a choice made, free will,
but was it of God…
 
A hard place to stand, to anchor,
based on my own convictions, the law,
a struggle between God and free will,
a sense that I should not tell another,
the choices they should make,
pain they would suffer, autonomy,
if choice were taken from them
but grieving for the fate of innocent life…
 
Giving immense power, authority,
to one so utterly broken, bereft,
of any moral character, vile,
a fount of lies, of grievances,
so unlike our Savior, Christ,
so unworthy a leader, a liar,
the worst our country can offer,
how is he a protector of innocent life???

the stranger, the other,

Do you see them, truly

their aura, their presence,
can you sense the divine,
the sacred indwelling,
living within each heart…
 
Touch the sacred,
Holy, spirits moving,
the lifeforce seeking
to joy, to enter, wanting,
to commune, to dwell,
alive within each heart…
 
Stretch beyond, outside
the bounds of your vision,
see with your heart, within,
the holy, living, presence,
touch the sacred, neighbors,
all of us gifted with the spirit,
a spark of the infinite divine…

I will stand beside you forever

I come to you, before you, my wife,
making this pledge, these vows,
to share my heart with you, my beloved,
to speak truth, light, into your life,
into the cosmos, the air, the spirit,
across time and space, now,
to tell you I will always love you,
for as long as I have breath…
 
I will stand beside you,
my love, my beloved wife,
in good times, in bad times,
trusting God to provide,
to walk with us, besides us,
in our journey together, that He
will be with us in struggle, in happiness,
whatever comes our way…
 

I will love you in sickness, in health,

in all the days of my life, our days together,

when we are apart, separated by distance,

when you are as close at breath, our bodies

touching, bound together, one flesh, my wife,

whispering I love you, knowing your response,

how deep is your love…

I will cherish you always, my wife,
for you are my one desire, my light,
The one I cleave to, who I long for,
the one God has prepared for me, a gift,
a chance for happiness, for fulfillment,
as close to the divine as breath, as hope,
for joy, for a promise, a prayer,
to love you, as long as I have breath…

 (The prophecy fulfilled)
 
Their time of exile has been completed,
a judgement of God upon the people,
stuck between heaven and hell,
this prophecy fulfilled, completed,
lifting the curse over the people,
the spell has been broken, forsaken,
a light is now coming, rising, brighter,
the Great Grave is about to open…
 
Fidelity to their nation, their homeland,
the Kozaks, the Hetman, the Kobzars,
memory of ancient glory, Ukraina,
to the cause of freedom, their songs,
the chains of the curse being lifted,
their eyes open, united, together,
one chance for a future, a hope,
a return to their past glory…
 
High upon a mountain, a hilltop,
a tremor, above the mighty Dnipro,
the Bard stirs in his tomb, restless,
for His is The Great Grave, where glory
was hidden, safeguarded, on the heights…
the glory of Ukraine has been opened,
together Kobzars, black-haired maidens
all sing songs of their victories,
for their boundless love of Ukraine…

The Great Grave being opened – v2

Moskal’s anger was brought upon
the Kobzars, the three bards,
all who fought against them,
Bodhan found buried naked,
in an empty tomb…
 
But the song continues higher,
the melodies, the folksongs,
of ancient treasure remaining,
the Great Grave was undiscovered,
on the mountain heights…
 
Now, in this moment, today,
a turning of the story, the people,
descendants of the Kozaks rising,
standing resolute against aggression,
the sum of Moskal’s rage…
 
Evoking the memory, triumph,
of those when they vanquished,
the Kobzars’ songs of glory, history,
the Great Grave being opened,
Ukraine’s great treasure to be revealed…
 
The glory of the people, freedom,
independence from cruel masters,
a rising tide, a hope in their homeland,
free from the Moskals, the horde,
a lasting peace to Ukraina…

The Great Grave being opened – v2

Moskal’s anger was brought upon

His heart was Ukraine… - v2

Shevchenko’s is a singular voice,
present hope of his people,
of his native land,
the ancient tongue,
the heart of Ukraine…
 
His heart was Ukraine,
no matter where he was planted,
in the darkness of the empire,
in prison, on the steppes,
he longed for his Ukraina…
 
Shevchenko never faltered,
yet he despaired in his spirit,
he longed for glory to return,
for hope to rise again, freedom,
in his love, his homeland, Ukraine…

Hear, O my Ukraina,
these ancient words,
listen to your prophet,
to his great warning…
 
You will be brought low,
for your rebellion,
turning from your homeland,
to this awful master…
 
He will cut you down,
as a warning to His people,
in fetters you will toil for them,
and in chains you will perish…
 
Only then will God redeem,
death of the false Tsar professing,
only then will God redeem,
Ukraina to His bosom…

I live in rebellion, struggle,
planting seeds in the fields,
the ground I have ploughed,
the black soil I know so well…
 
Every word my dwelling place,
yearning for the ‘morrow,
ploughed and made level,
true to my humble child…
 
I live in rebellion, struggle,
not accepting my station,
I do not murmur at God,
I am calm in my center…

let us stop and rest,
let us face the future,

A song of Mary,
of the blessed virgin,
the servant-maiden,
who carried our salvation…
 
The Messiah, her child,
grew into His purpose,
she beheld the Messiah,
born of her, a virgin bride…
 
Mary sang a song,
as Christ’s first disciple,
traveling with Him in ministry
and to the cross on Golgotha…
 
The Messiah, her holy child,
become the earth’s martyr,
fulfilling God’s heavenly plan

The bite of the apple – v2

the bite of the apple,
the snap of its skin, a pop,
a memory transcendent,
oh, where should I begin?
with our family, our fun...
 
a crisp fall day, crossing into Vermont,
from our home in New Hampshire,
finding the orchard, the spot,
where will I find, the best, the jewel,
climbing the ladder, for a McIntosh…
 
foliage like a postcard, the hills beyond,
frost in the shadows, grasses, the fallen leaves,
color all around us, reds, and orange,
air crisp and cold, clear, azure,
flannel and corduroy, sweatshirts,
the warmth of hearth or home…
 
climbing the branches,
gathering the drops,
the scent of cider rising,
going into the warming hut,
what smells they have got…
 
the bite of the apple,
the snap of its skin, a pop,
wanting to taste it all, a memory,
a thick slice of sharp cheddar from the wheel,
hot cider as tart as tea…
