darkness closing in

no hope in that tomorrow

Christ in His Passion

entering trials, His betrayal,

yet speaking love to us.

 

An urgent word to love

a new commandment He gave us

to love as He loved us

as He loves us still.

 

An urgent word to love

spoken by Christ Jesus

while Judas prowled the night

in betrayal, in darkness.

And it was night,

of course, in darkness

the betrayer on the move

as soon as Judas

had taken the bread,

he went out,

and emptiness fell

upon that night.

 

“Go, go quickly”,

these burning words of Jesus

stinging in his ears

repeating, repeating,

entering the temple courts,

in secret, in darkness,

gone into the night

Christ’s Passion begun.

Now the Son of Man in glorified

in the steps now set in motion;

The Passion has begun;

My time has now come.

 

Now God is glorified

in My sacrifice, obedience;

All that had been prophesied

is now coming to pass.

 

Now the Son of Man is glorified

in submission to My purpose;

All will be revealed, fulfilled,

in the moments to come.

I Am the Messiah

 

I Am the Good Shepherd

I Am One who came down

I Am the One to be raised up

I Am the One who will enter the tomb

I Am the One who will be resurrected

I Am the One seated with God

I Am the Lamb glorified

I Am God

I Am.

Now the Son of Man in glorified

in the steps now set in motion;

The Passion has begun;

My time has come.

 

Now God is glorified

in My sacrifice, obedience;

All that had been prophesied

is now coming to pass.
