Roses of Crepe Paper – v2

Dying, drying, fading
changing texture
becoming paper, frozen,
holding their perfect shape.
 
Roses of crepe paper
in the vase before me
not silk, not rice paper,
softer, stiffer, than that.
 
The bouquet, each blossom,
holding life tenuously, still;
but progressing toward paper
to a permanent state.
 
Soon dying, fading
changing texture, frozen,
roses of crepe paper
to cherish, to hold, to touch.
