the nard of our blood – v4

The analogy imperfect
because Christ was the sacrifice
but she bore witness
to her life, her love
what she would do for Christ

So her story gave me pause
making me question
the depth of our offering
our lives on the altar
giving all to God

Do we fall before Him
as she did, entering in
is our blood the nard
do we wash His feet
do we give all to God

Not to be timid, hesitant
our lives to be poured
from our clay vessels
earthen jars for a purpose
to anoint the Christ

Clay jars shattered
our bodies the offerings
broken, emptied
the nard of our blood
given unto God

Our blood to be poured
our bodies on the altar
clay vessels shattered
poured, extravagant
a fragrant offering

We become the perfume
the clay of our vessel
our lives the oil,
the fragrance, the offering
the nard offered to God
