God was there, standing vigil,
with Jesus in the garden,
with Christ at Gethsemane
and before the Sanhedrin,
and their kangaroo court
with Christ before the guards,
as they beat Him in prison
and God was with Christ at the cross.
God watched, in anguish,
God shared the pain
of Christ’s suffering
as Jesus drank of the cup
as the judgment laid upon Him,
the living Son of God;
Our sins were placed upon Him,
God’s unblemished lamb.
