Pascal's Manale - v2

A bit of whimsy, of memory,
images of the meal before me
the moment, the power,
the sense of time and space,
overwhelming, a perfect bite.

We were talking Cajun,
a customer and me,
New Orleans cookin...
crawfish boils, spices,
and andouille sausage,
Little places,  just holes in the wall,
in Metairie, in the Quarter,
even Commander's Palace,
and our love of Cafe du Monde,
beignets and chicory cofee.

But it was when I said a name,
pulled from memory,  27 years ago,
His eyes lit up, alive, joining me,
I swear his mouth started to water ,
when I said that wonderous name,
Pascal's Manale.

We both started talking, joining,
a tapestry being woven,
strands, moments, visual and taste,
Barbeque shrimp they call it,
colossal is the word,
All hand on deck, diving in,
hands and face dripping with sauce,
eyes of the shrimp watching,
As we totally lost our minds...
