seeing through our sadness – v5

more than through our joy
our moments of happiness
too easy let go of maybe
to remember God’s presence

holding onto sorrow
to the lessons we learn
we hold onto, we remember,
our challenges somehow

seeing through our sadness
a new truth, reality
grist for the mill, hunger
we grow, we change

sight in new struggle
growing new eyes
vision from experience
the best teacher somehow

able to see further
a deeper understanding
seeing through our sadness
the truth of God, His power

seeing through our sadness – v4

seeing through our sadness maybe
more than through our joy
our moments of happiness
too easy let go of maybe
holding onto sorrow
to the lessons we learn
we hold onto, we remember,
our challenges somehow
more clearly, held more tightly
seeing through our sadness
a new truth, reality
grist for the mill, hunger
we grow, we change,
drawing closer to You
sight in new struggle
growing new eyes
vision from experience
the best teacher, somehow,
able to see further, deeper,
a deeper understanding
seeing through our sadness
the truth of God, His power and
the grace of our Savior, His sacrifice

seeing through our sadness – v3

the depth of meaning, of purpose
of God’s hand upon us, our lives,
seen more than through our joy
our moments of happiness
too easy let go of maybe, perhaps
not stopping to thank Him, to acknowledge
we hold onto, we remember,
our challenges somehow
holding onto sorrow
to the lessons we learn
seeing through our sadness
a new truth, reality
grist for the mill, hunger
we grow, we change,
sight in new struggle
growing new eyes
vision from experience
the best teacher
nothing we learn from others
from reading, history,
truly able to see further
a deeper understanding
seeing through our sadness
the truth of God, His power
the grace of our Savior, His sacrifice
His love for us

Give Thanks

Give thanks
not a special occasion
a singular day
God’s hope
for us to be thankful
come what may
Give thanks
in trials,
in all of our lives
ever always.

Pushing through my weakness

my only hope in progress
in chipping away at the piles
the burdens, the tasks not leaving
by my inattention, my fear
separating me from God
pushing through my weakness
my doubts, my avoidance
with the help of my Savior
only in doing, going,
do I have hope at all.
