Copernican Dilemma – v4

Heresy, blasphemy,

Emergence of science;

Changing the center, the focus,

Of theology, of truth.

My world, this earth,

Diminished, in reality;

Revolving, circling,

A different, greater orb.

Rejecting by the righteous

Those in holy power;

A false choice, a falsehood,

Accepted on faith.

Wanting to avoid

Imprisonment, death;

Remaining silent,

Under house arrest.

For speaking, uttering,

Unvarnished fact;

Condemned for telling

An unadulterated truth.

Defying the Pope

Defying the Pope

the earth-centric dogma

denying the falsehood

that the earth was the Master

Defying the Pope

the scientific truth before them

not willing to bow to tyranny

letting the truth guide them

Defying the Pope

Galileo and Copernicus defying the Pope

not the earth
