what would #Martin say – v3 #poem #poetry #God #Christ #Spirit #dream #America #MLK #justice #BelovedCommunity #MartinLutherKingJr

What would Martin say
in this time, at this moment…
So much progress, so much pain
so much loss and sorrow…
Other marchers lost,
those who carried the banner
who fought the good fight for justice…

What would Martin say
So much of liberty stolen
in the haze of war and struggle
so many in the streets, marching,
fighting for justice, for supremacy…
So many who know better
staying silent in their comfort…

Yes, what would Martin say
So many years forward, history,
so many days of pain, of anguish
in the country, the streets…
So many yet yearning, longing,
for justice, for dignity…
So much more to do, to dare,
to fulfill his dream, our sacred dream…

marching on the Capitol

marching on the Capitol

marching on the Capitol

at the calling of their leader

incited to riot, to storm

the seat of our nation’s power

the people’s House, the Senate

marching on the Capitol

to steal an election

insurrection, sedition

in the hearts of these traitors

pawns of the leader

marching on the Capitol

no longer in theory

the halls of Congress

desecrated, savaged,

almost put to the torch

rioters in the Capitol - v2

rioters in the Capitol - v2

Rioters in the Capitol

marchers on The Ellipse

guardsmen in the halls of Congress,

how did we come to this?

Hope for this moment

for peace and tranquility

in the transfer of power

the inauguration this week.

I pray there is safety

that no one would be harmed,

that we would be one people,

one nation under God.

Christ must be crying

Christ must be crying

Christ must be crying

for our way, our path,

as people, as a nation

so a part of this world.

Christ must be crying

on his heavenly throne

seeing what we prioritize

not calling his children home.

Christ must be crying

at the injustice, the greed,

denying hope to our neighbors

his children in need.

love, transformative love - v2

love, transformative love

to change our priorities

our purpose, our path,

our way as a nation

informed by love

by the love of the Creator,

the love of the Savior,

the love of the Spirit

alive within our lives.

love, transformative love

to heal that which is broken

our selfish ways, our arrogance

hating those God calls us to love

putting our treasure in folly

not lifting out neighbors up

leaving only a legacy of hubris,

of things, fleeting, of dust,

love, transformative love,

to restore, to redeem our lives.

$11 billion for a border wall.

We need a radical revolution of values.
