Wires Crossed

Wires crossed
circuits down
no connection
anywhere around
In the dark
unaware
needing help
catch the air
Wires crossed
circuits down
no connection
in the town
Wanting words
answers to our calls
on hold for hours
waiting in the halls
Wires crossed
circuits down
no relief
anywhere
at all

Second-grade Cell

A flip of the phone,
just out the doors,
five feet outside,
check for messages,
invitations, calls
while he was busy
busy in the schoolhouse
the second grade wheeler
dealer, popular
with his black
second-grade cell
