A Chastening Word

That we would live out his law
the commands of our creator
the law our savior told us
acting out of love
revealed in his life
the lamb before us
told to do the same
that we would truly live

A chastening word
now as then
looking at our lives in that ledger
where we have been faithful
and where we have strayed from the path

Seeking your guiding
leading us back to you Lord
more faithful in our journey
righteousness being our watchword
his Spirit showing the way
