tormented by my demons
lost when I wander
when I don’t drink the water
when I become dry, struggling
away from the Lord
tormented by my demons
steamer trunks full, layered,
wallowing in self-doubt,
struggle, pity and shame
needing again to turn
to the Father, to our Savior,
to hear the Spirit’s breath
to feel God here with me
