I wish I could take back my words – v2

I only know, in part, what they tell me,
the pain my words caused them,
the unkind things I have said,
the way that I accused them,
for things outside of their control,
for anger welling up within me…
 
Like toothpaste pushed out of the tube,
that can never be put back once spoken,
my curses, my angry words, daggers,
leave open wounds, deep scar tissue,
ammunition to use against me
in pain spoken out loud….
 
How I wish I could change the past,
to undo the harm my anger caused,
I wish I could take back my words,
I pray that my confession, my apologies
could reverse the pain I have caused,
the sins I have committed against them…
 
I can only pray for Your Spirit, Lord,
to speak healing within them,
not so much forgiveness for me,
but healing their spirit,
for what I have said to them,
for the pain of my angry words…
