seeking discernment

how to be effective

the call to make disciples

upon each one of us

a call, not a demand

an offer, a gift,

seeds, not a net

to woo, not to push,

to gather the harvest

a carrot, not a whip

we must be bold

we should not be timid

do not fear death

our mortal bodies

more than you love God

do not deny Him

to avoid harm

do not worship

things, false idols,

do not bow down

when the bully threatens

to kill, to harm us, if

we do not worship the flesh

how secure is our faith

our love of Jesus

we must follow Christ

the One God only

over all there is.

we can share, aglow

the Good News within us

we can offer water

to those thirsty for drink

we can be Christ

to those who walk with us

but we cannot make disciples

that is up to them

and our God

God changes hearts

God redeems us

in the breach

no one else able

God alone worthy

to make disciples

to heal us

God finds us

God saves us

we plant the seed

in the soil of hearts

but God makes disciples

God touches them truly

the growth, the choice

to live for Him only.

to stand in judgment

to find fault

to stand, to judge me,

God alone able

may I be as back then

standing against the ruler

as in this story

truly faithful to God

not bowing to any other

anything of this earth

an end to this life

faithful only to God
