no earthly treasure

nothing that dies

that returns to the dust

all of us sinners,

all of us needing

the Savior’s touch;

we must be bold

we should not be timid

do not fear death

our mortal bodies

more than you love God

do not deny Him

to avoid harm

do not worship

things, false idols,

do not bow down

when the bully threatens

to kill, to harm us, if

we do not worship the flesh

how secure is our faith

our love of Jesus

we must follow Christ

the One God only

over all there is.

even with a gun to my head

may I be as back then

standing against the ruler

as in this story

truly faithful to God

not bowing to any other

anything of this earth

even with a gun to my head

or a fiery furnace

not fearing death

an end to this life

faithful only to God

in my journey of faith.
