Death is not the Final Word

darkness stalks the land
chaos, confusion, sadness
hurting from the bombing
sudden, huge explosions
life not making sense
feeling a distance from God
wanting answers, direction
feeling loss somehow

but there is Easter
death is not the final word
life is reborn, rising with Jesus
we are set free by the empty tomb
there is Easter, joy in heaven
the Lamb seated upon the throne
there is praise, songs in heaven
the earth joins in that song

we are confident yet
even the midst of such evil
the darkness has not won
the victory is in Jesus
we will rise from the ashes
the confusion, the sorrow
we will run on new legs
we will follow our Master

in times of great trouble – v2

In times like these, in anguish
after the bombing, the chaos
explosions hundreds of miles away
in times of great trouble

When the world doesn’t make sense
out of control, darkness
when joy is hard to find
in times of great trouble

God is right beside us
our refuge, our strength
with us always, ever
to the end of our days

God is our refuge
our fortress, our armor
the protection we need
in our struggles on earth

God is our strength
in the gales, the wilderness;
nearby us, holding us
safe in the storms
