hearing my guilt

not hearing God’s voice

His word of grace

forgiveness of sin

love, in its place

hearing my guilt

the shame of my past

an echo remaining

until it is released

given to the heavens

at the feet of God

releasing the chains

that yet hold my heart.

suffocation – v2

suffocation

unable to breathe

a weight upon me

the name of grief

shame for what I did

for who I hurt

forever with me

while I walk this earth

a weight on my chest

heavy, like chains

marking me like a tattoo

only by God’s grace

freed from these chains

not by what I have done

God sees me as Jesus

healed of my brokenness

washed of my stain
