Peter stood by the fire

In denial, betrayal
standing by the fire
Peter in the court of the temple
hiding from their glances
cloaked in his sin
denying the Son of Man
warm by the fire
the gates of damnation
the maw gaping before him
cursing his master’s name
seeking the warmth of betrayal
Standing with them
denying the Son of Man
