All about the optics

We live in the spotlight,
On the stage, the arena,
We draw attention to ourselves,
Seeking earthly rewards…
 
It is all about the optics,
Praise here from mankind,
Seeking acknowledgement,
From creatures of clay…
 
Lowly, yet self-centered,
Narcissists to an extent,
Seeking adorations, praises,
While we walk on the earth…
