from within the mist – v4

God is out there in the fog
His grace is ever present
calling to me, come,
from within the mist,
beyond my vision, my sight,
what I can see with my eyes
calling to me, “Trust;
Submit to my will;
come to me, my son,
if you want to live.”
I hear You, Lord, I do,
I want to trust;
but I am held by fear;
my feet are made of clay;
they are of the dust.

In the darkness – 2 – v2

a sense, a shiver,
hearing a whisper only
a murmur of a presence
not really wanting to hear it all
the actual words of Jesus

speaking to me in the night
in whispers to hushed to hear
in the darkness of this space
only the light shining on You
shining out into the world

I know You have a message
that’s why I don’t stop
I don’t sit down in the dark
lingering in your presence
afraid what you might say

I fear the call, the words
the charge upon my heart, my life,
to keep writing, to submit,
ready in the unknown,
in the quiet, in the dark.

in the fog – v3

God is with me now
right where I am at the present
but God is in the unknown,
in my future,
what has already been written
in submission to Him

God is in the fog
calling, to me, “Come”.
God calling to me
to submit, to trust;
calling me into the fog
to go into His unknown.

Falling into the arms of Silence – v3

a deep pool of water
a well of worship,
of peace only God can bring
falling into the arms of Silence
into God’s waiting presence

quiet, still, knowing
like a comfortable coat
I have forgotten to wear
out in the wind, the cold
but someone I should know

knowing they are there, waiting
in the darkness, peace from the day
from my impossible struggles
giving them more fully to God.
befriending Silence, a place

silence a destination, sanctuary,
finding God there, Grace,
the presence of God
in the stillness, the longing
to answer my prayer.

befriend the Silence

befriend the Silence
the living Presence
the Spirit of God
the words of Christ
within the stillness
the darkness, the mystery,
God speaking still
to our hearts
befriend the Silence
like Lady Wisdom
words welling up
printed on our minds
but more than this
words given, gifted
given to be shared
to be scattered to the wind

the breathing of the Spirit

the musings of eternity
the whisper of the divine
the breathing of the Spirit
from our lips, our pens
hearing the urging
the urgent message
sharing, a vessel,
a conduit only
not holding the message
smooth sided, glazed
to be filled to be emptied
to be poured out in love

Listen to God

befriend the silence
listen to God
the Spirit musings
in the dark
listen to God
for God’s message
the voice in the darkness
within our hearts
befriend the silence
not only speaking
prayer listening
for the voice of the Shepherd
to live more fully
in God’s kingdom
to share the message
the Good News for us.

Befriending Silence – v2

a stranger to me
but someone I should know
already beside me, waiting,
like a comfortable coat
I have forgotten to wear
out in the wind, the cold
knowing it is there, waiting
befriending Silence
a presence with me
finding God there
in the stillness, the longing
peace from the day
from my impossible struggles
giving them more fully to God
trusting in Him.

into the unknown, in my future
in submission to Him
God is in the fog

to go into His unknown.

deep and wide

prayer without ceasing
deep as the ocean
wide as the universe
for all time
life in submission
in giving to worship
to time spent with God
in the arms of silence
in the safety of God’s peace
deep and wide
in communion with eternity
in moments of prayer
