Mood Indigo – v2 - repost

Ancient Jazz incarnate
rising from his seat
clarinet in hand
sharing a prayer with us

Slowly, oh so slowly,
melting into the notes, the lyrics
another place and time
the song, Mood Indigo

Ancient growl of the tune
rhythm, melody
whine of his clarinet
drawing us all in to
the Mood Indigo

Night in New Orleans (New Awlins) – v5

The Big Easy, New Awlins,
A world away, a lifetime,
so different, so foreign,
From my home, my experience.

My ears rang and sang
With the loud jazz music
Jambalaya / red crawfish taste like magic
To my tongue, my mouth
The crowds, colorful noise, spicy chicory coffee
Music like a brush fire.

I see it all/hear it all, still again,
Hot jazz, cool riffs,
Rhythm and movement
Hips grind to the tempo, percussion
Body sways, caught in that place.

I lick my lips and smile
in the memory, the cascade, crescendo
For the music and food
Of my soul, of life.

Night in New Orleans (New Awlins) – v4

The Big Easy
A world away
so different
From my home

My ears rang and sang
With the loud jazz music
The jambalaya
And red crawfish taste like magic
To my tongue, my mouth
The crowds, the colorful noise, the spicy coffee
Music like a brush fire.

I see it all/hear it all
Still again,
hot jazz, cool riffs,
Rhythm and movement
Hips grind
to the tempo, percussion
Body sways,
caught in that place

I lick my lips
And smile
in the memory
For the music and food
Of my soul

Night in New Orleans (New Awlins) – v3

The Big Easy
A world away
From my home
From stillness
A vibe all its own
Simmering, boiling
a city alive

My ears rang and sang
With the loud jazz music
The fresh jambalaya
And red crawfish taste like magic
To my tongue, my senses
The crowds, the colorful noise, the spicy coffee
Music like a raging brush fire.

I see it all/hear it all
Still again, now, in this reading,
Rhythm and movement
Hips grind
to the tempo, percussion
Body sways,
Perpetual motion

I lick my lips
And smile to myself
joy washing o’er me
At the memory, so vivid
Cajun spices, freedom overflowing,
For the music and food
Of my soul
