Latent Prints – v5

Latent prints of the Potter

invisible to the naked eye;

But still there written

God’s hands leaving a mark.

Pressed into my clay

the fingers of the Potter;

The loops, the arches, the whorls

are visible only within me.

In my inmost parts,

ridge patterns evident, God’s touch;

God molding my dust

with His hands, with His fingers.

God’s mark upon me

deep within, lasting;

Latent prints there too

if we would only see.

patent prints of the Potter
clear, visible to the naked eye
the stain of my sin,
the blood of my Savior
the Potter, the Christ
God’s hands leaving a mark

lifting me from death
from my sin, my shame
pressed into my clay
the marks of the potter’s hands
the loops, the arches, the whorls
his blood splattered
visible within me

God’s mark upon me
deep within, lasting
latent prints there too
if we would only see
in our inmost parts
the ridge patterns evident
God molding our dust, plastic
with his fingers,
with loving hands
