Their blood flows through my veins

I am connected to the eternal
a thread flowing through me,
to all who have gone before me
my ancestors through time
the universe, creation…
 
Their blood flows through my veins
beating heart of identity, of meaning,
my consciousness, my spirit,
in the flesh, the spiritual realm,
since the beginning of time…
 
Their DNA within me,
my image their reflection
his ears, her nose,
the turn of my eyebrow,
the warmth of their smile…
 
An attorney, an accountant,
son of an engineer, grandson
of a bookkeeper, a hard worker,
stable, adventurous,
alive within my spirit…
 
An echo of eternity, a ripple,
not bound by the temporal, now,
a stone cast across waters,
I am part of their legacy,
alive right now…
