We know her, don’t
we
if not her, so many others,
so many who have come before,
who have come before the mirror,
the camera, who have fought back tears,
Who have struggled to gain their composure…
We see her, we
know her, we all aspire to be her,
defiant in resolve, in purpose, regaining, reclaiming,
her dignity, her composure, her power over, peace,
to the enormity, agony of what she is facing, present,
this moment in her life, her sorrow, anguish, painful,
Not ceding this space, not empowering sorrow…
She was struggling
to breathe, her composure,
before the camera, a mirror, breathing,
calming, stilling herself, resolving,
to defeat the demons crying,
like so many I have known,
We know, don’t we…
if not her, so many others,
