Water and Fire

coming together,

in the Jordan, in baptism;

Essential elements

changing history, our lives,

the dust of the earth.

Water of sacrifice, redemption

blood that was spilled, offered;

Fire of the Holy Spirit

washing us, filling us,

God’s breath within us,

that we would live.
