 Water and Fire – 2 – v5

Water and Fire

came together, alive,

in the Jordan, in baptism

for eternity, for all time;

Essential elements melding

transformed history, our lives,

the breath of God, air, moving,

quickening the dust of the earth.

Water of sacrifice, of redemption

His blood that was spilled, offered

poured out on us, drenched;

Fire of the Holy Spirit

wash us, fill us, imbue us,

God’s breath within us,

stir us that we would live.
