 Water and Fire – 2 – v6

Water and Fire of God, eternity,

came together, alive, stirring,

in the Jordan, in baptism

for a moment, for all time;

Essential elements melding

transformed history, our lives,

the breath of God, air, moving,

quickening the dust of the earth.

Water of sacrifice, of redemption ,

Christ’s blood that was spilled, offered,

poured out upon us, we are drenched, filled;

Fire of the Holy Spirit, descending like a dove,

wash us, fill us, imbue us with your love,

God’s breath within us, moving,

stir us, mold us, move us,

change us that we would live.
