Who are the outsiders, the strangers,
those we call outside of our circle,
those we see as other, as pariahs,
unworthy of our love?
How can we ever justify, rationalize,
our discrimination, our failure to love them;
How do we reconcile what we say and do
with the way of Jesus Christ?
Christ loved the outsider,
the stranger, the other;
Christ brought them all within
God’s endless circle of love.
How can we ever claim to be a Christian,
an authentic follower of Jesus Christ
when we do not love the outsider,
the stranger, all those we meet?
