Ice more than Frost – v6

ice more than frost

on the flat surfaces;

flat and slanted

against the wind

even the doorway

all covered, frozen,

encased in white, in ice

temperature still falling;

well below freezing

that dark, dark night

melting only by applying

the exhaust of the engine;

the car awakening slowly

from its dormancy, frozen,

from its mask of ice

bending to Pamola’s will – v4

Long before the snow melt

the coming of real springtime

snow still on the mountain

Pamola’s home, his realm

the cloud this morning

molded to the mountain

giving in, submitting,

bending to Pamola’s will.

The cloud pulled down, stitched,

pushed down, in submission

not parallel to the horizon, level;

bent, folded, arced over the peak,

the cloud this morning

molded to the mountain

giving in, submitting,

bending to Pamola’s will.

The sky darkening, in the early sunlight

I could see the fog rising, filling in,

the fabric, the clouds moving in;

but not level, straight to the horizon,

the cloud this morning

molded to the mountain

giving in, submitting,

bending to Pamola’s will.

bending to Pamola’s will – v3

long before the snow melt

bending to Pamola’s will

the cloud pulled down

pushed down, in submission

not parallel to the horizon

bent, folded, arced over the peak

the cloud molded to the mountain

giving, bending to Pamola’s will

the sky darkening, in the early sun

I could see the fog rising, filling,

the fabric, the clouds moving in;

but not level, straight to the horizon

the cloud molded to the mountain

giving, bending to Pamola’s will
