Painted
with grains of sand
dipped
in winter light;
pure
sparkle, diamonds
on
each filament, reaching,
every
blade of grass.
Facets
of the crystals -
twinkling
as I drive.
Holding
God’s light, a prism,
sparks
of glinting color, alive!
Fingers
of Jack’s paint strokes,
cast
in frozen white
The
hills ablaze with sunlight
shimmering,
the fields afire;
morning
just begun,
filaments
of sparkle;
painted
before the sun.

“painted
with grains of sand”
one
of several poems about drive yesterday
------
the
fields were alive with frost this morning
on
NH Route 107 in Epsom, NH, Southbound,
with
many vistas of white over the reeds and grain stalks, as
going
to the Deerfield Community School
