hills
alive in morning
painted
with grains of sand
dipped
in winter light
pure
sparkle, diamonds
on
every filament, fiber,
on
every blade of grass
facets
of ice crystals
twinkling
as I drive beside
holding
God’s light, as a prism,
sparks
of living color, glinting
fingers
of Jack’s paint strokes
dipped,
cast, in frozen white
hills
alive in sunlight
shimmering,
the fields afire
morning
just begun, waking
illumined
within
filaments
of sparkle
painted
before the sun

“painted
with grains of sand”
one
of several poems about drive yesterday
------
the
fields were alive with frost this morning
on
NH Route 107 in Epsom, NH, Southbound,
with
many vistas of white over the reeds and grain stalks, as
going
to the Deerfield Community School
